A Brief Study of Facial Hair in “The Iceman”

Verboten! (1959)

I watched this Sam Fuller film on Monday, and what I like about his films, aside from all of the obvious things, is that his smaller, lesser-seen work is just as good as the bigger films like Pick-Up on South Street, Naked Kiss, and the other Criterion favorites.  A lot of times you’ll hunt down a director’s rarer films and think, “Oh, that’s why no one talks about this movie.”  But Verboten! (gotta keep that exclamation point) is just as raw and intense as any of Fuller’s other films.  Sure, it’s pulpy and every character is cranked up to 10, but that’s Fuller.  No matter what the movie was about or what the budget was, Fuller just poured all of his energy into it.  The dude did not half-ass.

I failed at Tumblr this week, here are this week’s comics.

Well after way longer than I expected and about 5.5 seasons of The Simpsons in the background, my Bartkira pages are done and fully colored for some reason. I think I took it way too seriously, but I wanted to draw each page how I would draw them in one of my own comics. No tracing, no rulers, just a lot of eyeballing. Can’t wait to see the whole book!

Now to get to all of the other work that’s been backing up…
